Within seconds of starting to read this script I knew I wanted to see how actors would work with it. I LOVE how this was written for educational purposes and how much room the actors have to play with inflection and tone in the script. I think you could play Jess and Erick's beginning dynamic an infinite amount of ways, leaving the way its read entirely up to the reader. I read this script twice, thinking about different motifs for each, and it lead to so many possibilities. This script was so perfectly written, I would love to read more like it. Very very well done!
I found this piece so interesting--the tension between the characters and the "will they, won't they" dynamic sucked me in. I particularly liked the purposeful use of stage intimacy. The dialogue is fun to read and visualize on a stage, with a lot of notable realistic quirks, like some intended stumbling and characters cutting themselves off when they fear they've crossed a line. Both Erick and Jess are very defined characters for the short period of time they appear on stage, with Erick forward and and confrontational in almost everything besides his feelings at first, and Jess more reserved yet a bit more lax in her objectives and more considerate of the feelings around her.
