GIANT HAT by William Reymann

A Short Stuff Contest Submission

When two... uh... "friends" wake up in bed with their luscious locks knotted together in an absurdly terrible tangle of hair, they either gotta cut that hubber, or expose their connection to the world. Those are the only two options, right???....... Unless......

God have mercy on their souls.

I simply adore how clever this play is! All of the little one-liners laced in the script, combined with how real, young, and modern the characters are, made for a really funny and enjoyable read. On the flip side of the comedic realness of these characters' humor and language choice, I also love how genuine they are in the reality of the lives and struggles of queer youth. Overall, amazing job and I'd love to see this come to life with vibrant actor and prop choices!

I think this piece is SO interesting. I love the contemporary style it's written in and the metaphor carries really well into the end of the script. I like the balance of it's playful nature while addressing the theme of queer relationships in a visually exciting but also emotionally vulnerable way! I also love it when pieces like this leave lots of room for creativity and personalization in the idea of sets/blocking/etc, makes for something I think would bring much intrigue to see on stage. Well done!
